K2 Tumbled Stones
The K2 Stone assists in dissolving impediments and restraints in our spiritual growth process. In concentrating our thought on actually releasing the barriers in our path it seems to speed up the process of doing just that.
The K2 Stone is known as K2 Granite, K2 Jasper and/or Raindrop Azurite. It is found in the Skardu area of northern Pakistan on the K2 Mountain, also known as Mount Godwin Austen. K2 has a summit elevation of 8,611 meters and is the second-highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest at 8,848 meters. It is is found near the base of the mountain in a very remote area.
When I had seen this one at gem shows, I had immediately thought that the round blue dots had been produced with a dye. I, like many others, had a hard time believing that it was actually Azurite since white granite and Azurite rarely occur together. So, I never chose to make a purchase. But, tests have now been completed and science has prevailed, it is a real occurance.
K2 is a bright white granite that contains sharply contrasting orbs of bright blue Azurite. The Azurite orbs can range from several millimeters up to centimeters in diameter. The white granite is very fine-grained and composed of Quartz, Sodium, Plagioclase (a feldspar), Muscovite, and Biotite. Since it is primarily Quartz, we are placing it in the trigonal crystal system in the mineral class of oxides. But to be clear, Azurite on its own is in the monoclinic system. So, I think there are parallel qualities that can apply to this one.
