Once again we have a trade name that doesn’t match what a stone actually is – insert a chuckle from me here. I’ve seen this one around for a while, but this was the first time I spent time working with it.
Because it is actually within the calcite family in its makeup, it will be slower acting and will need to be used over longer periods of time. One of my go to resources to find out what a new stones makeup really is: mindat.org. They are science based and chuckle a lot about ‘healing properties’, but they absolutely are a great resource when you are not sure about the real makeup of a stone.

Crystal System…
Bumble Bee Jasper is a trade name for colorful fibrous calcite found at Mount Papandayan, West Java, Indonesia, and also in areas of Australia. The material is made of radially grown fibrous calcite with a distinctive yellow, orange, and black banding. The orange and yellow colors are mainly caused by finely dispersed realgar (a soft reddish mineral consisting of arsenic sulfide, formerly used as a pigment and in fireworks). The black stain is caused by pyrite and hematite.
Bumble Bee “Jasper” is actually a misnomer, as this stone contains no quartz at all (while actual jasper is a variety of chalcedony, which itself is more or less a “microcrystalline quartz”). It is actually a carbonate mineral in the Trigonal Crystal System. It’s beautiful coloring is displayed in bands of yellow, orange, black and gray, with translucent white to opaque white areas.
Application…
I’m not quite certain how I feel about this one as of this writing. I did find it grounding or settling, but it also created a bit of unease for me. I’m not sure if it has to do with the fact that I have a allergic reaction to sulfer (which I did not experience handling it), or that I had been thinking about the fact that I’m allergic to sulfa based stuff and wondered. I did find myself getting lost in the colors and patterns and found once I pushed those other thoughts out it did provide a very tranquil feeling and I did feel energized. So, give it a whirl. I’d love to hear of your experiences with it.

As with most stones that work well at the 2nd and 3rd Chakras, Bumblebee Jasper helps with abdominal problems, circulation problems, some allergies, regenerating and healing the nervous system, stomach problems and constipation and/or diarrhea.

Bumblebee Jasper has a special affinity with Leo but benefits all signs. It has a Projective Energy, it’s Planet is Jupiter and its Element is Air.
Folklore…
Generally I find some folk tales on a stone. I think because it’s ‘new-er’ to us there is really nothing out there that I could contribute to this one’s history.
