The Maiden Moon, March

Full Maiden Moon of March

The names corresponding to the 13 Lunar Year Full Moons are what I have come to call them. I give credit to all those before me for figuring out what seems to work and for passing it on to me. They can be called by many other names in respect to your particular path or tradition. (more moon information)

I call the full moon in March the Maiden Moon. The name is an indication and a celebration of the many maidens of springtime honored in this season, from Persephone, to Aphrodite, to Eostara, (from which the name Easter is derived), this moon hails and celebrates them all.

This is a time when the energy of life breaks the grip of winter’s veil of illusion. Light has balanced and finally defeated darkness at the Spring Equinox.

At this time of year, revel in your new beginnings, growth, exploration, and prosperity. Use this moon as an opportunity to gather your resources in preparation for the season of growth and activity that will soon be arriving.

This moon is also known as the Lenting Moon, the Sap Moon, the Worm Moon, or the Alder Moon.
